Timing is everything! 

I recommend booking your appointment when you feel ready to say “yes” to your dream dress.

At SixPence & Sage, we carry a beautiful selection of off-the-rack gowns that can be taken home the same day—but keep in mind, these popular styles can go quickly!

We also offer the option to special order gowns, and depending on the designer, they can take 6 to 8 months to arrive. So if your wedding is on the horizon, the sooner you book, the better to ensure you have the full range of options.

To ensure you have the best possible bridal experience, we ask a few simple questions at the time of booking. These help us prepare in advance and tailor your visit to fit your unique needs and style.

                Here’s what we’ll ask:

• When is your wedding date? (Your big day!)
   
• What is your street size? (e.g., 6, 10, 18, 24 — so we can pull gowns that are a great fit.)
   
• What is your budget? (We do our best to work within your comfort zone.)
   
• How many guests will be joining you? (We welcome up to five guests, including the bride, to keep the experience cozy and personal.)
   
• What silhouette or style of dress are you looking for? (A-line, ballgown, mermaid, boho, romantic, minimalist—let us know your dream vibe!)
   
• Do you require any special accommodations for your appointment? (Accessibility needs, sensory-friendly preferences, or anything else we should know.)

Choosing your dress for the BIG day is such an exciting and emotional experience—but it can also feel overwhelming at times. Too many opinions can sometimes make the decision more difficult for a bride.

To help keep the experience intimate, focused, and stress-free, we kindly ask that you limit your guests to 5 people total (including the bride).

This allows us to create a calm and supportive environment where you can truly focus on how you feel in each gown.

Our goal is to ensure every bride feels comfortable, confident, and celebrated during her time with us.

We absolutely LOVE both children and fur babies—they bring so much joy to life! 

However, to ensure you receive the professional, private, and focused bridal experience you deserve, we kindly ask that little ones and pets remain at home with their favorite sitter during your appointment. This allows you to truly relax and enjoy this special moment without distractions.

                Exceptions:

• Newborn babies are always welcome.
   
• Registered service dogs with proper documentation are permitted. (Please note that my own service dog in training may also be present during your consult.)
   
• If you are bringing a service dog, kindly let us know at the time of booking under the accommodations section so we can ensure everything is prepared for your visit.
   

We still love seeing your littles and furry companions—photos are always welcome, so bring those adorable pics along!

To make the most of your bridal consultation, we recommend bringing a few essentials to help you feel comfortable and confident while trying on gowns:

•  Nude undergarments or shapewear – These provide a smooth base and work well with most gown styles.
•  Strapless bra – If possible, bring one to help you better visualize different necklines and fits.
• Shoes (or heel height) – If you already have your wedding shoes (or know the heel height you’ll be wearing), bring them along to help us determine proper gown length and fit.

These simple items can really enhance your experience and help you envision your full bridal look!

At SixPence & Sage, we carry a range of sizes from 00 to 36, depending on the designer. We believe every bride deserves to feel beautiful and confident, and we strive to offer options that reflect all body types.

If you have a specific size request, please let us know at the time of booking so we can best accommodate your consult and prepare styles that will make you feel amazing.

Great question! While we do not perform alterations in-house, we proudly work with a group of preferred local seamstresses who are highly experienced and incredibly talented.

Our trusted seamstresses have over 40 years of experience each, with one having designed pieces for Avril Lavigne and Nelly Furtado, and another being a young, up-and-coming talent currently designing for our Tillsonburg location.

We want you to feel confident and radiant in your gown, and having the perfect fit is a key part of that. We’re happy to connect you with the seamstress best suited for your style and needs.

Because many of our gowns are available to take home the same day, we do not offer holds on any dresses—including sample sale gowns, which are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

We also offer the option to special order gowns from our designers. Whether you're choosing off-the-rack or placing an order, all wedding gown purchases are final sale, as is standard in the bridal industry.
